“A parent deciding whether to enroll” is a brief. “A calculator” is not. The moment tells us more than the mechanism.

What they should walk away with
A number, a decision, an answer they trust. Name the outcome and the interface usually designs itself.

Any numbers it must be right about
Rates, tiers, formulas, deadlines. If the app is going to state a figure, it should be your figure.
