After eleven years coordinating volunteers, Denise is retiring in June. She left us something better than a farewell speech: a phone list of 214 people who show up, annotated in her handwriting with things like “call after 6” and “brings extra bags, always.”
That list is the real infrastructure of this organization. Software didn’t build it — Thursdays did. If you’ve been meaning to get on it, the Volunteer page is open, and Denise is personally training her successor on every name until June. She says to tell you the homework-help table still needs two more chairs filled.
